Laconic Film

About Laconic

Emma Holbrook founded Laconic Film in 2005 after touring the UK as a musician and technician with the Laconic Theatre Company. Emma asked to carry on the name from her former colleagues into video post ptroduction. She graduated from the University of Reading in Film and Drama before moving back to the west of England to focus on developing her own work. Briefly after moving back she began working for the Sprint Music Label under John Ratcliff ( producer and manager of A-HA ) and edited her first music video for international broadcast on such channels as MTV, MTV Europe and Bubble Hits. It was during this time that Emma started to learn valuble information about post production processes and gained experience in a variety of formats, editing platforms and delivery methods.

Emma is also an experienced musician and began composing music for film when she left sixth form college in 2000. She has scored professionally as well as for her own work, continuing to develop her style and keep an open mind, staying commited to the director’s vision. She currently lives in Somerset as both a freelancer and filmmaking instructor at The Richard Huish College in Taunton.

She is a member of both BECTU and UNISON trade unions.
